Adansonia za has a cylindrical trunk with a rough, grayish bark. Its silhouette with a ball-shaped crown is often compared to that of an apple tree. The petals are generally yellow, but depending on the region, they can vary from white to red or be variegated with yellow and red. Fruits are large and very variable in appearance: cylindrical or in the shape of a large squash.
