This member of the Passifloraceae family was given this name by William Grant Craib in 1914. It is found in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 25 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 25 metres in height. The flowers are light green, hence the Latin species name.

The genera is named after the Yemen city of Aden. The species name means 'green flowers'.
