Crassula perforata is a small, succulent shrub with compact, stacked leaves, which remains relatively low and grows in tufts. It can reach a height of 45 cm or more, with secondary stems rising almost vertically and bearing pairs of leaves more or less distant. The edges of the leaves are often reddish and quite conspicuous.
Its discreet flowering occurs in spring and is pale yellow.

There are several cultivar or selection of this Crassula, the 'Giant' is, as its name indicates, a form with leaves much larger than the typical species.
