Aloe bellatula is a small, stemless, suckering species forming a dense, fleshy clump of erect leaves. It is distinguished by its thin leaves, up to 13 cm long, with a slightly grooved upper side. Although both surfaces of the leaves are covered with rough papillae, they are very flexible. Tiny pale teeth along the edges of the leaves give them a feeling of roughness rather than sharpness. The flowers are hanging, bright coral red, long and bell-shaped at the end of a long stem.
